M'lore: Fr Gilbert D'Souza, Director, SCC Celebrates Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination

Mangalore, Apr 30: The Silver Jubilee of the ordination of Fr Gilbert D'Souza, director of Small Christian Communities (SCC), diocese of Mangalore was celebrated in the Pastoral Institute, Bajjodi, here.

Along with Fr Vincent Monteiro, director of Pastoral Institute, Jubilarians and other 50 priests concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.

Fr Charles Menezes, National Chaplain of YCS/YSM, in his homily highlighted the contemporary priesthood and its challenges. Soon after the Eucharistic celebration there was felicitation programme which began with the video presentation of the glimpses of jubilarian Fr Gilbert's ordination and his 25 years of priesthood.

Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, director of Canara communication centre raised the toast and wished Fr Gilbert well in his future ministry. Jubilarian was greeted with a song composed by Fr Ronald P D'Souza, director of YCS/YSM.

Vincent Monteiro, director of Pastoral Institute, honoured the jubilarian Fr Gilbert. In return, Fr Gilbert thanked all those who were instrumental in making his odination silver jubilee a memorable event.
Fr Vincent welcomed the gathering, Fr Santhosh Rodrigues, director of Family Life Service centre compered the programme.

About Fr Gilbert D'Souza

Fr Gilbert D'Souza hails from Permannur parish. He joined the seminary after his graduation in 1978. He was ordained by the late Bishop Basil S D'Souza on April 29, 1986. After his ordination he served as assistant parish priest at Bejai and Bajpe parishes.

Later he served as parish priest of Vijayadka and Padukone parishes. For the last 8 years he is serving as the director of Small Christian Communities (SCC) of the diocese of Mangalore. He is also serving as the secretary of Karnataka Regional and South Indian Commission for Small Christian Communities(SCC)

    As you celebrate your 25 years of Priesthood, I join in thanking Jesus for the gift of His love in your priesthood. You have touched many people as Priest. You are a good leader, wonderful councilor and a great spiritual guide.

    I am proud that God brought you in my life and you have been the source of joy and strength to me and to many, continue this gift in sharing His love.
