Sullia, Apr 30: Western range inspector general of police, Alok Mohan, claimed that the policemen have clues about those who slain A S Ramakrishna, administrative officer of KVG Medical College here late evening on Thursday. He exuded confidence of nabbing the culprits soon.
It is clear that the assailants were waiting for Ramakrishna’s arrival at the spot of murder, knowing fully well about his routine. Ramakrishna had developed the practice of going for walk to the Temple Road through Ambetadka Road before returning to his residence by the side of Southern Residency. The policemen have begun questioning the family members and close relatives of the deceased individually.
The sniffer dogs of the policemen failed to provide any clues.
Thursday happened to be the birth day of Vallish (13), son of Ramakrishna, who was present at the spot when his father was attacked. Ramakrishna’s daughter Sridevi’s marriage was to be solemnized on June 8. His sister’s daughter, Ratnakala’s marriage was to be held on June 3. The engagement ceremony was to take place on May 5.
Academy of Liberal Education vice president, Dr K V Chidanand, directors, Shobha Chidanand and Dr Jyoti Renukaprasad, Academy general secretary, Dr Renukaprasad K V, secretary, Paddambail Venkatramana Gowda, M B Sadashiva, and various leaders rushed to pay their last respects to the departed soul. Holiday was declared to KVG Group of Educational Institutions on Friday.
The funeral of Ramakrishna was conducted on Thursday night itself at Atloor in Ajjavar, which happens to be his native place. Ramakrishna’s father, M R Venkatakrishnaiah (87), and mother, Kalavati (69, both retired teachers, have been grieving the unexpected demise of their son. None of the family members are aware of any incident that would have given rise to animosity about Ramakrishna among the assailants.
