Mangaluru, Oct 2: Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar along with other dignitaries inaugurated the first edition of 'Kudlada Pili Parba 2022' (tiger dance competition) organised by Kudla Samskruthika Prathistana at Nehru Maidan here on Sunday, October 2.
As many as 12 teams took part in the tiger dance competition.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vedvyasa Kamath said, "Minister Sunil Kumar has sanctioned Rs 5 lac for the event from his department. In the coming days, the Prathistana will also celebrate various festivals including Deepavali with gaiety and fervour."
He said the tiger dancers who perform well will be provided opportunities in state-level government programmes.
"This competition is being conducted under the guidance of Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel. This competition is being organised to give prominence to the art of the land. The best three teams will be awarded with cash prizes. We will honour other teams which participated in the competition with a suitable honorarium," Kamath added.
He also said that nearly 3500 people can view the tiger dance in the gallery by sitting among the audience.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Chairman of SCDCC Bank MN Rajendra Kumar, Mayor Jayananda Anchan, Deputy Mayor Poornima, BJP district president Sudarshan Moodbidri, former mayors Diwakar Pandeshwar and Premanand Shetty among others were present.
