Chitradurga: Sleeping Couple Killed by Slitting Throats

Chitradurga, Apr 28: Hanumantappa (50), and his wife, Chandramma (44), from Obavva Nagtinahalli village, who were working as labourers, were killed while sleeping on the night of Tuesday April 26. The murder came to light on Wednesday, as the bodies were covered with a rug after the murder. The incident occurred near Chalavadi Mutt on the outskirts of the city.

The villagers, who saw that the two had lost their lives, conveyed the information to the policemen at around 7 pm on Wednesday. A two-year-old grandson of the couple, who was unhurt, continued to be by the side of its murdered grandparents till the people found him. The child was weak, and after treatment, is recovering.

The couple used to work in the plantation owned by Dilip near the said Mutt. They were murdered in the farm house of the plantation. Although the policemen suspect that psycho killer, Jaishankar, might have killed the couple, they are yet to confirm the same. They have begun detailed investigation into all angles relating to these murders. District superintendent of police, M N Nagaraj, said the people need to be very vigilant, in the light of this incident.
