Mangalore, Apr 28: “Politics should never be allowed to get mixed with religion. If that happens, moral values will sink to nadir,” warned Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyoor Gurudevadatta Samsthan. He was delivering the benedictory address at a meeting organized on the occasion of reconsecration of Dharma Daivas, Brahmakalashabhisheka, and Dharma Nemotsava held at the renovated Dharma Chavadi of Padav Meginamane lineage.
“Religion is facing crisis now. Whenever someone speaks about religion, politics seeps in automatically. If a politician follows religious principles, he can become a good administrator. Religious faith is a matter of the choice of the individual. But religion covers the entire world. The lineage of Meginamane has been working to conserve ancient culture. If we forget our ancestors, we bite dust. Spirituality alone can drive away corruption. Giving bribe is as much a sin as receiving it,” he said.
MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, speaking on the occasion, hailed the rich tradition of Guttu and Daiva prevalent in Tulunadu. He felt the need to hand over the heritage of Guttu traditions to the next generation, following on the path shown by elders, continuing with worship of Daivas and serpent god etc, to ensure that rural places do not get urbanized and villagers do not flock to cities.
City corporators, Bhaskarchandra Shetty, Shakila Kava, and many others were present.
Umesh Rai welcomed. Sharat Shetty Padupalli compered the programme.
