Bangalore, Apr 25: Ornaments of one kg of gold worth Rs 1.05 crore were recovered and 138 persons were arrested in various cases in the last three months, according to the police.
Murder of a man by his sister over a property dispute was part of the cases, said IGP Central Range Kamal Pant.
Stanislaus Mary, Susheel Kumar, Philip Raj and Muniraja were arrested for the murder of William Peter, brother of Mary, Pant said.
The arrested persons have been remanded to judicial custody and a car and two motorbikes were recovered from them.
Mary allegedly killed her brother with the help of her three associates last month and subsequently burnt his body. The partially burnt body was found near Avalahalli police station limits.
In another case, Kemepe Gowda was arrested for murdering his lover Arunamma, running a beauty parlour in Chikkaballapura to grab her wealth.
In yet another case, three unlicenced SBML countrymade guns were seized from residence of one Krishnappa in Thammanayakanahalli, who got the weapons manufactured for hunting purposes and sale.
Police said during interrogation, he revealed that the guns had been illegally manufactured by Venkateshachari of Madappanahalli, Tumkur district.
Further, he had also sold an unlicenced weapon to another person which he had got illegally manufactured by one Nanjachari, a resident of a village in Tamil Nadu.
Subsequently, four others including Venkateshachari and Nanjachari were arrested in this connection and four unlicenced weapons recovered.
In another case,a four-member gang, allegedly involved in a number of criminal cases, was arrested and vehicles and gold ornaments worth 16 lakh seized from them.
Two persons were arrested for murdering their friend, a catering contractor, as they were jealous of his flourishing business, police claimed.
