Bijapur, Apr 24, DHNS : Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, now on a tour of the State, has said that he will not invite Anna Hazare to sit with him on a fast that he is launching in Delhi on June 4.
Addressing a press conference, Ramdev, apparently stung by the nation-wide attention garnered by Hazare, said if the latter was interested, he could join him in the fast.
“I joined Anna Hazare in his fast at Jantar Mantar without being invited. He can join me, if he is interested, but I am not going to invite him,” the yoga guru said.
In a controversial statement, Ramdev said he did not see the Jan Lokpal bill as a means to end corruption. “It is not our demand that the Constitution should be amended either. The institution of the Lokpal should be independent and should have three to five members. It should have punitive powers and should be able to bring back funds illegally parked abroad,” the yoga guru said. “I have no political ambitions,” said Ramdev who has announced many times that he will set up a political party.
“I don’t have to become a hero by staging a fast,” he said in an oblique reference to Hazare’s hunger-strike which has brought him into limelight.
