New Delhi, Sep 19 (IANS): The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) on Monday said that the top performers from the Uttarakhand Super T20 League (USTL) will be selected to represent the state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.
The first-ever USTL, jointly organised by the CAU and Rhiti Group, began on September 18 and will end on September 24 at the Tanush Cricket Academy in Dehradun.
The league comprises of five teams including CAU Black, CAU Blue, CAU Orange, CAU Grey and CAU Green and will play each other in a round-robin format. The first and fourth teams meet in the first semifinal, while the second and third clash in the second, before the two winners clash in the finals.
CAU Black and Grey won their respective first games over CAU Orange and CAU Green on day one.
Some of the players who are a part of the tournament and have played in the Ranji Trophy are, Dhanraj Sharma, Gaurav Chaudhary, Shivam Khurana, Sunny Rana and Kunal Chandela.
The last named one would recall took the legendary Brian Lara's wicket in a friendly when the West Indian had last come down to the State.
The CAU has made sure that state selectors and members of the board attend the tournament and have said that top players from the tournament will be selected to play for Uttarakhand in Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tournaments, for example, the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.

We are confident that this league will not only help bring out the special talent in the region to the fore but also produce some Indian stars very soon."
