Washington, Apr 21 (PTI) US continues to be deeply concerned about the use of "extralegal" detention against human rights activists in China, a State Department spokesman has said.

"We continue to express our deep concern to the Chinese Government over the use of extralegal detention against these and other human rights activists.

"And we're going to seek more information on these specific cases and others who've gone missing or been detained," the State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters at his daily news conference yesterday.

He said the US has received credible information that one of the lawyers detained by the Chinese authorities was released.

"Lawyer Jiang Tianyong was released from extra judicial detention according to our sources. And we're seeking further information on reports that Li Xiaoyuan has also been released," Toner said.
