Washington, April 20 (IANS/EFE) Three kindergarten students in Houston were wounded Tuesday when a gun that one of them brought to school went off accidentally, authorities said.
A spokesman for the Houston Independent School District told the media that the incident occurred when the pistol fell to the floor in the cafeteria of Ross Elementary School and discharged a single shot.
The six-year-old boy who brought the pistol to the school, along with another boy of six and a girl of five were wounded in the foot by either fragments from the floor hit or fragments of the bullet itself.
None of the children seems to have been seriously injured, according to school district spokesman Jason Spencer.
School authorities and police are investigating how the boy managed to get hold of a loaded gun and bring it into the school.
