Beed (Maharashtra), April 16 (IANS) A 16-year-old girl, who had set herself on fire after being repeatedly raped by her father's employer and an aide, died at a hospital here Saturday, police said.
"The victim had suffered more than 90 percent burns," a police officer told IANS.
She was repeatedly raped by her father's employer and his aides for seven days in Surmapuri village, 40 km from the district headquarters of Beed.
"The accused, Babulal Rasal, is a farmer who had employed the victim's father in his farm. He has been arrested and is in police custody along with his aide Narayan Kale," the official said.
The victim's father worked for Rasal for two years as a farm labourer. He had recently paid off Rasal's loan and was looking for another job. Police believe Rasal was irked by his ability to pay off the loan, and that's why he raped his daughter.
Rasal and his aide allegedly took the victim to a couple of small lodges, where they raped her for seven days, police said. On the seventh day, Rasal dropped her off outside her home, police said.
