Mangalore, Apr 16: Deepu Peetambaran (27), a native of Ponnanam in Kollam district, Kerala, who had hired a room in Hotel Parkway on K S Rao Road in the city, was found hanging from the fan of his room on Friday April 15.
On contacting his family members, the policemen were given to understand that the deceased was working in the Gulf, and that he had recently been sacked from employment. He had come back to his native place before moving to the city and committing suicide.
Peetambaran had hired a room in the hotel on Wednesday. On Friday, the hotel employees found that the door of the room had been locked from inside. They peeped through the gap in the door, and saw Peetmbaran hanging from the fan. They broke open the door, and found that before hanging himself with the help of his lungi, Peetambaran had used a blade to cut the vein in his left hand. It is surmised that frustrated at not loosing his life by this method, he would have chosen to hang himself.
The Bunder policemen here have registered a case, and begun investigation.
