Mangalore, Apr 16: A total of 24 persons suffered injuries, after a KSRTC bus hit two cars, a rickshaw, and a private city bus in front of Vijaya Bank near Jyoti Circle in the city on Friday April 15 afternoon.
Out of the injured, 23 were treated as outpatients. Charles Gregory D’Souza (81), a resident of Alape Padil in the city, who was travelling in the KSRTC bus, suffered grave injuries. He was admitted into a private hospital for treatment. The auto rickshaw in question fell on its side. Rickshaw driver, Vinay D’Souza, and KSRTC bus driver, Shivalinga L Nayak, were among the injured.
Over speeding, rash and negligent driving on the part of the KSRTC bus driver reportedly caused the incident. Traffic (west) policemen have registered a case.
