Mangalore: Crane Tumbles - Traffic Chaos on National Highway

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 15: After one of the two cranes that were summoned to lift a truck that had fallen into a gorge by the side of Pavanje Bridge tumbled down, traffic on national highway went haywire for about three hours on Thursday April 14.

A truck carrying coal towards Udupi had fallen into the gorge on Wednesday night. Policemen of Suratkal and Mulky stations got involved with traffic control during the operation.

For lifting the fallen crane, another crane had to be brought to the spot. As the operation to lift the truck and the crane became complicated, vehicles lined up on both sides of the highway for several kilometres. The operation, which commenced at 5 pm, ended at 8 pm.
