Mangalore, Apr 15: Karnataka State Wakf Board has issued instructions to Dakshina Kannada district Wakf Board, asking it to ensure that Kajoor and Killoor Jamaats in Beltangady organize annual Uroos jointly. This was stated by district Wakf committee president, H S Usman, and spokesman, Rahim Uchchila.
They explained that Kajoor and Killoor Jamaats used to hold joint Uroos since 1963, but that the Kajoor Jamaat, for frivolous reasons, had proposed to organize Uroos separately, without the involvement of Kajoor Jamaat. Killoor Jamaat had complained to the state Wakf Board in this connection. The state Wakf Board, after examining the issues, has asked both the Jamaats to come together for organizing the Uroos, they said.
They said that the district Wakf Board had asked the governing councils of both the Jamaats orally as well as through registered letters, to hold discussions under the presidentship of Karnataka State Minorities Commission chairman, Anwar Manippady, and come to a decision. The district Wakf Board had asked the Uroos committee that had organized the joint Uroos earlier, to organize Uroos again, but preparations were made to hold separate Uroos by Kajoor committee.
All the members of Killoor Jammat governing council, and 11 persons of Kajoor Jamaat governing council, gave written support for holding joint Uroos. In addition, three more have orally agreed for the proposal, they revealed. They said that both Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner and superintendent of police have been asked to extend cooperation for holding the Uroos in a harmonious environment, and that both of them have agreed to the request.
Kajoor Uroos Committee president, Haji M Kasim Malligemane, secretary, Abubakker Siddique, members, Abubakker Mallige, H N Hanif, B H Abubakker, and Usman Kukkavu were present at the press conference
