Mangalore, Apr 14: Ammi alias Abdul Hamid (26) from Paivalike Lalbagh near Uppal, Kasargod, was arrested by the policemen belonging to Kadri police station in the city on Tuesday April 12.
The policemen have claimed that Ammi is a close associate of Kalia Rafique, who had been involved with a number of thefts, and who had given a slip to the Karnataka police while being taken to Kasargod court from Chikmagalur. Rafique had also escaped from the policemen once in the past. But in both cases, the policemen managed to arrest him thereafter.
On being produced in the court here, Ammi was remanded to judicial custody till April 23.

While Rafique was captured after the vehicle he had stolen met with an accident while running away from the policemen, Abdul Hamid had managed to escape.
Acting on reliable information, the policemen went to Ammi’s residence in Falnir in the city, and took him into custody.
While Kalia Rafique faces 23 cases in Kerala and Karnataka relating to murder, robbery, theft etc., Ammi faces five cases in Kerala state relating to robbery, and vehicle theft.
