Mangalore, Apr 13: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC), Subodh Yadav, said that a total of 367 acres of land had been earmarked for allocating sites and residences under different government schemes in the district.
He noted that after he took over charge as the new deputy commissioner of the district nearly six months back, quick action had been taken for the implementation of housing schemes and other people-friendly government schemes, by earmarking government land for the same.
“In rural places, 285 acres of land has been identified within the jurisdictions of various gram panchayats, and steps have been taken to hand over the land to the respective gram panchayats. Various steps have been initiated to ensure that people living below poverty line get the benefits of the government schemes. 41 acres of land for various purposes, and 190 acres of land for relocating the tribals, have been set aside in Sulkeri village in Beltangady taluk.
Three and half acres of more land is also being identified. In Mulky town, process of acquiring five and half acres of land for government schemes has been initiated. 2.10 acres of land in Puttur, and eight acres in Sullia, will also be set aside for these schemes. Within the city corporation, six acres of land has been set aside, and during the next phase, 26 acres of additional land will be provided under these schemes,” he said in a release.
