Karkala: Widespread Rains, Lightning, Batter Taluk

Karkala, Apr 13: Several regions in the taluk experienced heavy rains coupled with thunder and lightning on the evening of Tuesday April 12. The rain continued for about an hour. For a short duration, hails fell in Ajekar and nearby places.

A tree got uprooted on the house of Soorappa Naik in Marne village. The loss in this incident has been estimated at Rs 15,000. Susheela Hegde, a resident of Kadtala village, suffered a loss to the tune of Rs 10,000, as a cow and its calf owned by her died due to lightning.

In several parts of Kundapur and Udupi taluks, overcast skies were seen, and some places received light showers too. Venur and surrounding villages in Beltangady taluk too received good rains coupled with thunder and lightning.
