Moodbidri: Hit and Run Case – Car, Accused, Taken into Custody

Moodbidri, Apr 12: The accused as well as the Indica car he was driving at the time it hit two motor bike-borne youth, killing them instantly, and injuring another pedestrian at Maryadi near here on the night of Sunday, were taken into custody by the local policemen on Monday April 11.

Reportedly, Mohandas from Kotebagilu was taking two passengers from Shirtady to Moodbidri, when the accident occurred. Although the vehicle hit a motor bike at Maryadi, Mohandas said he thought it was a minor accident. He was in a hurry to pick up two more people from a hotel in Moodbidri to take them to Mangalore, the policemen said.

The policemen traced the vehicle and its driver, based on pieces of the vehicle found at the spot of the accident, and with the help of other drivers. Satish Crasta and Vittal Naik had died in the said accident, while a pedestrian, Madhusudan, was admitted into the government hospital here with some injuries, in the above hit and run case.

    this is really a cruel act. The two families are in real bad condition as they lost their soul bread winners. even to conduct the postmortem the money was collected from the public...this is really sad and as usual poor people are of less concern to everyone even the media. This death didnt make any news, no condolenses even it was so horrific.
