Bangalore: Yakshagana Academy Awards for Nine Artistes, One Organization

Bangalore, Apr 12: For the year 2010, Karnataka Yakshagana Academy has chosen nine artistes and an organization for its annual honorary awards.

The lone organization to get this honour is ‘Yakshadegula’, Bangalore. This organization will receive the award for its contribution towards organization of Yakshagana. The artistes picked up for the awards are, Shivaram Jogi from Mangalore, K Leelavati Baikadittaya, Mangalore, Sridhar Bhandary from Puttur, Krishna Timmaiah Hegde from Balehadda in Uttara Kannada, Hallady Manjaiah Shetty from Chitradurga district, Begar Padmanabha Shettigar from Shimoga district, Moodalapaya artiste Siddalingaiah from Tumkur district, Bayalata artistes, Mallikarjun Rachappa Madakavi from Bagalkot district, and K Hussain Sab from Koppala district.

The honorary awards carry cash component of Rs 10,000, a citation, shawl, etc. The awards function will be conducted on May 1 at Mandarti temple in Udupi district, a release from the academy stated.
