Udupi: Christians Allege Assault on Pastor by Bajrang Dal
Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)
Udupi, Apr 12: Udupi district unit of International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations (IFKCA) has alleged that communal organizations have brazenly resumed the task of inflicting further injuries on the Christians, who had suffered a lot in the hands of these forces, and are yet to come out of the trauma they suffered by the unexpected attack on churches in the coast. The association said that these communal forces hold the remote control on the state BJP government.
“At night, prisoners purportedly belonging to Bajrang Dal, assaulted K J Joy, pastor of Ebenezer Prayer Hall in Halengady, who is presently lodged in Mangalore sub-jail. Because of the assault, the pastor has suffered bruises on his jaw and eyes. This was personally seen by the office bearers of the union when they went to the jail. The office bearers then met the jail superintendent and urged him to take immediate action,” said IFKCA district unit president, Louis Lobo, and vice president, Prashant Jathanna.
They pointed out that opposition leader in Mangalore city corporation council, Lancelot Pinto, was also subjected to intensive scrutiny, and a warrant had been issued against him recently. “In spite of these injustices being inflicted on members of the Christian community, the police department and the district administration have, unfortunately, have turned a blind eye. They do not seem to have come out of their deep slumber,” they criticized.
In a release, IFKCA Udupi district unit said that the Christian organizations and political leaders have decided to organize suitable protests besides carrying out legal battles against such unlawful acts.
