Bengaluru, Aug 14: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai flagged off the Electric Buses being introduced by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in the city from the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Sunday.
A total of 300 E-buses are put into operation on different routes in the city by BMTC.
The Chief Minister later travelled in one of the buses for a short distance along with other dignitaries.
Bommai also launched the Insurance Scheme for the BMTC Drivers and passengers and presented awards to some of the drivers for their accident-free service record.
Home Minister Araga Jnanenda, BMTC Chairman Nandish Reddy, MLA Nagaraj, BMTC Managing Director M D Satyavati and BMTC Revival Committee Chairman M R Shrinivasamurthy and others were present.
The Uttara Karnataka Associations Federation Chairman Shivakumar Meti felicitated the Chief Minister by garlanding him and presenting a bouquet of flowers for sanctioning 3.24 acres of land for the Federation.
The land has been granted in the Kammasandra village of Dasanapura Hobli in Bengaluru South taluk.
