Mangalore: Poornaprajna Institutions Win ‘MSNM Besant Cup 2011’

Mangalore, Apr 11: Poornaprajna (Evening) College, Udupi, won the ‘MSNM Besant Cup 2011’, a tennis ball cricket tournament organized by MSNM Besant Institute of Postgraduate Studies, Bondel, for all the under graduate and post graduate students affiliated to Mangalore University at Urwa Ground, recently.

Poornaprajna Degree College were the runners-up. Praveen Chandra, assistant revenue inspector, Mangalore City Corporation, inaugurated the tournament.

Praveen Kumar, Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation, was the chief guest at the valedictory function, and Ganesh R Shenoy presided over the programme. Dr Narayan Kayarkatte, director, MSNM Besant Institute of PG Studies, Suresh Mallya, Nagar Narayan Shenoy, and management members of Women’s National Education Society, were present. 

A memorandum signed by 2011 cricket lovers on the proposal for an international cricket stadium to be set up in the city was handed over to the district commissioner and the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation on this occasion. About 35 colleges  participated in the tournament.
