Bangalore, Apr 8: After detecting irregularities in the common entrance test (CET) held by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences for admission into postgraduate courses for medical and dental courses on January 30, seven out of the first ten ranks have been cancelled, and the results of the concerned students have been nullified. The Lokayukta investigation had confirmed that irregularities had been committed by these candidates.

In the interim report submitted by the Lokayukta, it was noted that seven out of the first ten ranks have gone to students, who appeared for CET at Bellary Institute of Medical Sciences, and prima facie, it is proved that they had copied the answers. Medial education minister, S A Ramdas, told the reporters on Thursday April 7 that the above step was taken, based on the Lokayukta report.

For the other candidates, the university will hold counselling from April 10 onwards. The results of Dr Sankeert (first rank), Dr Shilpa (third rank), Dr Renuka Gurgol (fourth rank), Dr Patil Abhijeet (fifth rank), and Dr Vinod Karjagi (ninth rank), all of whom appeared for CET from Bellary, have been nullified. In addition, irregularities committed by serving candidates, Dr Hari Dattatreya Mangangi (second rank), and Dr Dhananjay (second rank), have also been proved. The results of Dr Firdous Sultana and Dr Bharati have been withheld. The policemen have continued with their investigations, and the guilty will be acted against, the minister added.

At the same time, he revealed, that the committee formed to go into the irregularities has held an allegation that a candidate was allowed to write his examination by sitting inside his car, as baseless.
