Mangalore, Apr 8: Lakshman Yeligar, working as sub-inspector of Bajpe police station near here, has been suspended on the basis of Lokayukta investigation, said city police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh.
The Lokayukta police had trapped Bajpe police head constable, Subhaschandra, while accepting a bribe of one lac rupees on March 8. Subhaschandra was suspended immediately thereafter. The present suspension is also connected with the said incident.
It may be recalled that head constable, Subhaschandra, was suspended for demanding one lac rupees as bribe for releasing the passport of Mohammed Ashraf from Bantwal that was illegally detained by the former. The sub-inspector has now been suspended, suspecting his involvement in the above incident.
