Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 4: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday August 4, reported 20 new coronavirus cases while four cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,299 out of which 71 are currently active. As many as 16 patients were discharged on August 4.

Zero deaths were reported on August 4. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,854.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.68 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Four coronavirus cases were reported on August 4. The total active Covid cases are 44.

A total of 10,89,981 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,82,792 have received both doses and 1,82,621 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported four cases, Karkala and Kundapur zero cases.
