Ajman, Apr 3: UAE was visited by the team of delegates from Malaysian Medical Council headed by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican, former president of the Malaysian Medical Council cum former director general of health, Malaysia, Dr Wan Mazlan Mohamed Woojdy, secretary, Malaysian Medical Council and C Perumal, legal officer, Malaysian Medical Council on January 31, as a part of the inspection of the MBBS program offered by the Gulf Medical University.
The visiting delegation was accorded a warm welcome by the founder president of Gulf Medical University Thumbay Moideen, Provost Prof Gita Ashok Raj, various deans and the malaysian medical students.
The visiting delegation was briefed to an audio-visual presentation followed by a visit to various medical faculties and departments. They were briefed about the educational pattern and the use of the most modern and advanced laboratories by the University to impart quality medical education to the students. The visiting team was highly impressed that the university had an international faculty and a student cohort from around 54 countries. Later, the visiting team interacted with the Malaysian students enrolled in the Gulf Medical University. They were deeply impressed by the academic, research and healthcare facilities at the Gulf Medical University and GMC Hospital and Research Center, Ajman.
The president of the Malaysian Medical Council, Dato' Dr Hasan Bin Abdul Rahman in his letter accorded official recognition to the undergraduate medicine programs of the Gulf Medical University. This recognition will be invaluable to the malaysian students studying in the University and will grant them licensure to practice medicine in Malaysia.
