Bantwal, Jul 22: The PUC students in a pre-university evening college hostel at Vamadapadavu, Ajiibettu village in the taluk were thrashed by their senior degree college mates in the same accommodation on July 20. A case in this connection is registered at Punjalkatte police station.
In all, 14 students of the pre-university college are staying in the hostel. The students of the Vamadapadav degree college Sharath S, Abhishek, Sudeep, Rakesh and their companions joined and assaulted the PUC students with belts and wickets and threatened to beat them again if they complained about it to anybody.
PU College principal Sridhar H G had sent the students injured in the fight to Vamadapadav community health centre for treatment. He has lodged a police complaint and the police have registered a case. The locals have alleged that the absence of a full time warden in the hostel has allowed the students to act as they liked.
The BCM department officials visited the hostel and conducted investigations. It is said that the offending students have been debarred from the hostel.
