Udupi, Jul 22: “Saving secularism and protecting the Constitution is the aim of Congress party. Investigation (National Herald case) is done with the intention of psychological pressure and harassment. Citizens are not happy with anti-people policy of BJP. Those who raise their voices for the oppressed are silenced. This is done to weaken the constitution and change it. The hidden agenda of BJP is Congress Mukth Bharat,” said Ullal MLA and deputy leader of opposition in the assembly U T Khader, condemning the ED investigation issue on Sonia Gandhi.
Khader was speaking at the press conference that was organized at Mother Palace in Brahmavar on Friday, July 22.
Khader further said, “Till the Gandhi family is there, Constitution will be protected. Attempts are being made to weaken the strength of Gandhi family and constitution. No one can wipe off this family.
“What is the content in this case? Who has given complaint? In which station? Where the FIR is raised? Give the copy of FIR to the public of the country. Are you investigating a case in which FIR is not filed?
“National Herald is the newspaper that fought against the British regime. British tried their best to close this down. They could not do it. People of India did not allow British to close down National Herald. Will they allow BJP to do so?
“Rahul Gandhi was questioned for around 52 hours in the National Herald case. In PSI scam case of crore of rupees, the investigation gets over in two hours. What kind of vendetta politics is this?
“You are harassing a mother who refused the prime minister’s post which was given to her. Sonia Gandhi is unwell. Unnecessarily she is being harassed. The woman who gave historical schemes to people of the country would have been honoured with Nobel Prize in other countries. Everyone knows what contribution the UPA government has given to this country.
“This harassment is evidence for the dictatorship of BJP. Rahul Gandhi has organized ‘Bharath Jodo’ march from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. BJP is scared of this march. Hence, they are harassing him."
“Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s blood was shed on the soil of Uttar Pradesh. Rajiv Gandhi’s blood was spilled in South India. When August 14 arrives, BJP says Akhand Bharath. Where is your Akhand Bharath in the past eight years? Why you are silent when China is sitting illegally on our land?” he asked.
Former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, Abhayachandra Jain, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, district Congress committee Udupi, Bipin Chandrapal, spokesperson, Veronica Cornelio, KPCC spokesperson, Malyadi Shivaram Shetty, Ismail Athradi, Ramesh Kanchan, president Udupi block, Prakhyath Shetty, Krishnamurthy Acharya, M A Gafoor, Saurabh Ballal and others were present.
