MLA Krishna Hegde Lauds Govt's Decision to Install 5,000 CCTV Cameras in Metro

Mumbai, Mar 24: Vile Parle MLA Krishna Hegde has written to both Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and deputy CM Ajit Pawar thanking them for allocating funds in the state Budget.

The state budget presented by deputy CM Ajit Pawar who holds the portfolio of finance minister has made a provision to install 5,000 CCTv cameras in the metro with an objective to make the city crime free.



Vile Parle is the first constituency in India which had initiated the idea of CCTv coverage at no cost to the tax payer. Six CCTv cameras are already functioning and work on five more cameras is underway.

MLA Hegde has spoken to local industrialists to sponsor additional 20 cameras at his constituency - Vile Parle covering both domestic and International Airports, all major roads, market places, schools/colleges. These Cameras will be linked to the nearest police stations.

‘I thank CM Prithviraj Chavan and deputy CM Ajit Pawar for taking up this important security project, particularly after the 26/11 terrorist attack on Mumbai and have requested them to implement and expand the project in Vile Parle as a Pilot constituency which covers the sensitive Domestic and International Airports,’ said MLA Krishna Hegde of Vile Parle constituency.
