Dhoni 'keeps' date with India cricketers at Edgbaston

Birmingham, Jul 11 (IANS): Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni paid a visit to the India dressing room at Edgbaston following the team's 49-run win against the hosts in the second T20I on Saturday.

The cricketer, who was recently spotted along with Sunil Gavaskar at Wimbledon, decided to visit the India camp, where he interacted with wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, among others.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted images of Dhoni in an animated conversation with Ishan, who was not part of the playing XI in the second T20I.

Riding on a superb unbeaten 46 from Dhoni's teammate at Chennai Super Kings, Ravindra Jadeja, India put up a challenging 170/8 in their 20 overs and bundled out the Jos Buttler-led side for 121 in 17 overs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

The BCCI posted several images of the cricketing great in conversation with Ishan, and tweeted, "Always all ears when the great @msdhoni talks!"

CSK also tweeted the images and gave them a catchy caption: "'Keeping' in touch with the Youngbloods! #ENGvIND."

Dhoni, who turned 41 on July 7, is recognised as one of India's most successful captains. He led the team to victories in the 2007 Men's T20 World Cup, 2011 Men's Cricket World Cup in ODIs and 2013 Champions Trophy apart from going on top of Test rankings in 2009.

At the domestic level, he has captained Chennai Super Kings to IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 apart from two now-defunct Champions League T20 titles in 2010 and 2014.
