Dubai, Mar 24: Dedication, devotion, time, patience and above all temperament is what one has to inculcate when dealing with Special Needs children.
If you have these inner qualities you certainly get that ‘Special’ feeling and satisfaction at the end of the day that you have done & achieved something satisfying and good. Team maxtalent deserves plaudits for going out of their way to reach out to these Special Needs children when the 2nd edition of “Lets be little more human a pilot project of MAXTALENT in co-ordination and support of SAATHI (a wing of Indian Consulate for special children training) conducted a cricket clinic for them at the Al Nasr Sports
Club, Dubai, last Friday and Saturday.
The efforts put in was worth in gold, for it not only brought only smiles on the faces of these children when they were let them have a go with the bat and the ball on the newly- laid strip, but it also helped us (Maxtalent) to spot talent in some of the children and start work towards inducting them into main stream cricket, much to the amazement of even their parents
It was such a joy to see Sadiq take a long run-up before going in to bowl, much like Australia’s Brett Lee or Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar or Mubeen molding his batting style in Rahul Dravid and Ganpat with Sachin mannerism.
The support team consisting of coaches, admin and max way trainees and parents with SAATHI volunteers, made the children feel so special by giving each child equal attention and time that it made for a fantastic 2 day’s session.
Speaking on the sidelines, Sudhakar said: “It all started through a family friend who has a special child. We were discussing cricket when his son got very enthusiastic about it. He (the boy) started talking about boundaries (fours) and sixes, so I thought being a handicap child if he is so passionate about the game then why not do something about it. Anyway we at (Maxtalent) always believed and want to involve in social activities and charities. Its part of our culture so we took this as an opportunity and said let’s get going, especially nothing like game of cricket used as an via. Media.
“We feel that they deserve it like anyone else. I personally feel we are lucky and we can rub it to them too, so we got our qualified coaches, parents and trainees put them into a conditioning induction, as the approach requires a different route of handling.
“The coordination from SAATHI has being fantastic, their senior members let by Ms. Meeta Chopra did a awesome job which was so handy and made the day possible, right from knitting and using the net-working of SAATHI got 05 other institutes from different Emirates and handled the registration work, serving them Hotbread snack, marmu juice and al rostamani pegel supported Uniforms, all in all
a tough job to handle, remember there is mood to take care, as these children are special, so is the handling and treatment very special. I myself underwent three days of first hand exposure cum experiencing the handling aspect workshop at one of the Karama park, all just to enable
that we serve them at our best. Honestly admitting, last year, being the first edition, was very challenging, this year it was much easier and we managed with ease and lot of fun involving bigger number too, including boys and girls. The sportsman and the spirit is the mantra, as it breaks all barriers and gets you into adopting any challenge posed in front. Since we train youngsters anyway, it was only a matter of getting to their (special needs children) level of understanding and the rest is all that, we delivered today.
“The enthusiasm and excitement exuberated was so inspiring and motivating which was a testimony of huge success the events was, got Sudhakar to commit into maxtalent service to organize during the upcoming summer season, a 07 days summer camp to this special children. The event ideally would be organized again in coordination with SAATHI and possibly at the Indian Consulate Auditorium Dubai.
