Puttur, Jul 5: In a shameful incident, a man, a staff of city traffic police station, drove his Omni on the wrong side of the road and hit against a bike in which the father was riding and son was riding pillion. While the father died on the way to hospital, son is in a critical condition.
The accident occurred on the night of July 3 at Kumbar on Mani-Mysuru national highway.
Raghunath Shetty (53), resident of Kumbra Panjigudde, rider of the bike is the victim who lost his life. His son Anush is grievously injured and is admitted to hospital.
Anush, son of Raghunath, was to leave for Bengaluru. Raghunath was taking Anush on a motorbike to drop him to the bus stand. In the meantime, Sheenappa, staff of Puttur traffic police station, was driving Omni at high speed on the wrong side of the road and rammed head-on into the bike of Raghunath Shetty. Both Raghunath and Anush were thrown on the road due to the impact of the accident.
A case in this connection is registered in Puttur rural police station.
It is an irony that traffic police, who fines the public for trivial issues, violates the traffic rules blatantly and in this case caused the death of an innocent rider.
