Mangaluru: Congress protests against central govt’s Agnipath scheme

Mangaluru, Jul 2: City south block Congress staged protest here near the Mini Vidhana Soudha on Saturday July 2, against the Agnipath scheme introduced by the central government.

Former MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “The BJP have come to power by diverting minds of the youth. BJP had promised 2 crore jobs and unfortunately in last 8 years, not even 2,000 jobs have been generated. BJP Yuva Morcha have set up registration desks for Agnipath recruitment through which BJP is paving way for corruption. The age limit for the scheme is 17.5 to 21 years. He or she should leave PU to get into 4 years of training. Once training is completed, he or she will end up being educated up to PU only. We demand the withdrawal of Agnipath scheme. Youth want to serve the nation full time and not part time.”

Former MLA J R Lobo said, “Unemployment will not be resolved by Agnipath scheme. Only if investors should forward, issues of unemployment can be resolved. We demand to withdraw the Agnipath scheme.”

    Instead of protesting national issues with 20 to 25 people, kindly protest against live problems of Mangalore. No proper roads, No employment for mangaloreans in Petrochmeicals & Refineries. No proper drainage or trench arrangements especially during rainy seasons, No helpful packages from present MP, No action against hate speeches in public which creates communal war, No traffic signals where it is really required, No bypass road or fly over in Nantoor which was considered as a accident zone and promised to make fly over during Lobo was ruling as a MLA ! Please keep Mangalore peaceful and Educate as before .....

    One has to clearly understand where will the young soldiers go after 4 years of service to the nation.Agree or disagree is secondary. No regular pension,no medical and no canteen facilities such grocery and liquor of your choice.please understand.

    I agree with Raj, it is not mandatory and optional. May be it is mandatory for RSS AND BHAJARANG jawans. They will come to know once they complete there term of 4 years. I am sure even RSS AND BHAJARANG jawans will not go because they have the habit of not sitting one place. Ultimately one more failed project.

    Due to large scale unemployment, there will always be people ready to join; this scheme is nothing but taking advantage of the large scale unemployment scenario!! The problems will crop up after four years!!!

    At the age 21 or 22 , a person has wide choice.After coming out of service they would be getting around Rs.12lakhs , plus what ever saving he would have made in four years. The starting salary is around 32000 From this saving he can continue his studeies, or start his own business. For your information 25% of this recuited persons are absorbed in permanent employment. How many youngesters at the age of 22 can save this much of money and have an option of deciding his own future.Last but not the least many companies have already committed to employ those trained under this scheme

    Let us assume there is no Agnipath, than how many of them would get alternative jobs at the age of 17. Governments duty is not to provide jobs, but it only facilitates and helps private sector in creating jobs. For your information every capital city has an employment facilitating centre for retired Ex army including short service commissioned officers
