Mangaluru, Jul 2: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) urged that the prohibition on transportation of cattle for sacrificial purpose (Qurbani) and the ban on offering of Qurbani should be strictly implemented.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Kateel Dinesh Pai, Goraksha Pramukh of VHP said, “For Hindus, cow, calf and bull are sacred. According to section 4 of Karnataka Cattle Anti-slaughter and Protection Act, cow, calf, bull or ox of any age should not be given as sacrifice at any place by people of any religion. The offenders are subjected to rigorous punishment. If any one comes to know about illegal transportation of cattle, they can call 112 or animal helpline on 2277100200.
“The police department should put check gates at strategic places and prevent violation of the act. Police department should immediately spring into action as soon as they get information on cow theft or transportation and arrest the culprits,” he said.
