Udupi, Jun 28: Though anti-cow slaughter bill was implemented, illegal cow trafficking and theft is continuing unabated in the coastal districts.
In the district of Udupi, illegal transportation of beef and cattle is continuing without any fear of law. The ineffectiveness of police has angered the Hindu organizations.
In the month of June until now, four cases of illegal transportation of beef, theft of cows brandishing swords has taken place in Udupi.

On June 3, police found 425 kg of beef at Uchila Bhaskara Nagara under Padubidri police station limits. Four including a panchayat member was arrested in the case.
On June 9, Byndoor police intercepted cattle thieves who were transporting 400 kg of beef to Bhatkal in a tourist van with women in the vehicle to project as if they are going for a tour.
On June 11, 400 kg of beef was confiscated at Shirva. The beef was that of a cow which was stolen. The police held the offenders based on definite tip off.
On June 23, two cows were stolen from a house in the wee hours. When the family tried to prevent the cow thieves, they brandished knife and threatened to kill them.
Hindu organizations have warned the police department that if they do not take action, there will be protests and clashes once again in coastal districts.
