Panaji, Mar 15 (TOI): The CCP elections saw one of the most surprising results. Avinash Bhosale, leader of the panel backed by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), polled only seven votes.
Bhosale was furious with the results. "The results show that money talks and sanity walks. The sanity of the people has gone for a walk," he said. Regaining his composure a few minutes later, Bhosale said, "I respect the mandate of the people. I accept defeat."
The NCP's Benaulim MLA Francisco 'Mickky' Pacheco had caused a stir two months ago when he announced that he would field candidates for the CCP polls. "Mickky detached himself from the campaign. We also started late. As far as logistics go, we didn't get support from Mickky," said Bhosale.
