Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 19: Many parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are still awaiting the onset of Monsoon. However, Sullia and Subramanya received heavy rainfall on Saturday.
Most parts of the twin districts had sunshine and cloudy weather alternating every now and then. According to the meteorology department, both districts are expected to receive heavy rains for the next three days. Yellow alert is declared from June 19 to 22.
Sullia and Subramanya received heavy rainfall for three hours on the evening of Saturday. Commuters had a tough time as most of the drains were overflowing. Water gushed into agricultural lands and farms that lie by the side of the drains.
The state highways between Sullia-Bellare, Bellare-Ninthikallu, Panja-Kadaba were inundated. Sullia, Jalsoor, Kanakamajalu, Aranthodu, Kallugundi, Sampaje, Bellare, Ninthikallu, Ivarnadu, Kalmadka, Panja, Subramanya, Harihara, Pallathadka, Kollamogru, Balpa, Guthigaru, Bilinele, Kallagudde, Noojibaltila, Renjiladi, Ichlampadi and Konaje received heavy downpour.
In Udupi, Saturday was a mixture of sunshine and light rain. Udupi, Kundapur, Karkala, Hebri, Brahmvar and Byndoor received good rains in the evening. Parkala, Manipal and Malpe experienced mild drizzle.
