Mangaluru, June 15: The CCB police have arrested four persons who were allegedly carrying MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) in a car from Bengaluru to Mangaluru for sale.
They had reportedly bought the drug in Bengaluru.
The police team led by CCB inspector Mahesh Prasad and PSI Pradeep T R who received a reliable tip on the contraband being transported in the car intercepted the car near Padil and found the banned substance in it.
The arrested are Kasargod residents Mohammed Rameez (24), Mohiddin Rashid(24) and Abdul Rauf (35) and Bengaluru Madiwala resident Sabita (25).
The police have also seized Rs 6 lac worth of MDMA weighing 125 grams, six mobile phones, a digital weighing scale and a Maruti Ritz car from them. The total value of the confiscated items is about Rs 9, 82,000.
Two cases of possessing illegal drugs in 2021 are pending against Mohammed Rameez at the Konaje police station. He was released from jail six months ago. A case of possessing drugs and illegal arms in 2018 is pending against Abdul Rauf. A case of assault was also registered against him at the Vidyanagar police station in Kasargod. The accused have been remanded to police custody for seven days. A case in this connection is registered with CEN crime police station.
