Mangaluru, Jun 7: Mandd Sobhann held its 246th Monthly repertory programme at LCRI auditorium of St Aloysius College in the city on Sunday June 5.
The fourth lifetime achievement award of Mandd Sobhann was announced in January 2022 to ‘Nightingale of Goa’ Lorna Loui Cordeiro. As she could not partake in that programme due to unavoidable reasons, she was felicitated on June 6. A cheque of one lac rupees was handed over to her along with shawl, fruits, memento and honorary letter. She entertained the audience by singing three melodious songs.
The programme included draw of Tenko Abhiyan cash collection, which was organized as aid to the Konkani programmes of the organization and conferring of life time achievement award to renowned singer Lorna Cordeiro.
Entrepreneur Rohan Monteiro picked the lucky coupon for XUV 300 Mahindra car. Honorary guest of the occasion CA Alwyn Rodrigues was the lucky winner. Gurkar Eric Ozario handed over the car key to the winner. Konkani leaders and entrepreneurs Roy Castelino, Richard Rodrigues, Michael D’Souza, Martin Tauro, Michael D’Souza, committee members Louis Pinto, Kishore Fernandes, Stany Alvares, Elron Rodrigues and others were present on the dais. Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the event.
Tributes were offered to litterateur and artistes CJS Takkode, Sunil Crasta Bajal and Harry D’Souza. Dubai entrepreneur Martin Aranha rang the bell and inaugurated the monthly repertory programme. Irene Rebello compered the programme.
Blooming artistes Ishan Fernandes, Avril Rebello, Olinka Lobo, Saloni Saldanha, Calvina Pinto, Royson D’Souza, Cleon D’Silva, Arvin Seth, Layona, Ronvil D’Souza, Irel Rego, Reha Vas, Leona D’Souza, Ria Monteiro and Shainal Patrao sang Mandd Sobhann songs. The songs were directed and composed by Eric Ozario and co-directed by Raina Sequeira.
Poets of Poetica group Rony Crasta, Titus Noronha, Flavia Albuquerque, Felcy Derebail, Flavia Karkala, Jossy Pinto, Lavi Ganjimatt, Naveen Pereira and Dr Flavia Castelino read variety of poems in between the songs.
Roshan Bela, Sanjay Rodrigues, Floyd Pereira, Sachin Sequeira, Umesh Idya, Sunil Kumar and Prajwal Monteiro assisted in music.
The programme was compered in unique and comical style by Nellu Permannur, Maria D’Souza Vamanjoor and Sandeep Mascarenhas Shaktinagar.
