Udupi, Jun 7: Four tourists were rescued from drowning in sea at Malpe beach by the life guards on Monday June 6. This incident comes in the wake of saving two lives by life guards on the same beach on Sunday.
Mobino, Sophia Ahmed, Mohammed and Nabeel, all residents of Bijapur, are the tourists who were rescued from drowning. The four had come along with others on Sunday from Bijapur for sightseeing to the district. On Monday morning, four men got down into the sea and were playing. They were suddenly caught in stream of current and started screaming for help.
Life guards Bharat, Vinod, Madhukara, Janardhan, Vashad, Ravi, Soori and Sachin, who were present nearby rescued all the four who were about to washed away into sea.
The district administration has strictly prohibited anyone from getting down into the sea. It is observed that tourists do not heed the caution given by life guards. Convener of Beach development committee Sudesh Shetty said that fencing will be done from Monday to prevent tourists from getting into the sea.
