Puttur, June 6: The Sullia police have arrested three more accused in in connection with the revenge killing of 28-year-old Charan Raj at Perlambady of Bellare in Sullia taluk here on Monday, June 6. This was a coordinated operation with the help of Hassan and Kodagu district police. The deceased Charan was an accused in the murder of an Hindu worker Karthik Merla near Merla.
The police have nabbed the prime accused Kishore Poojary (34), Rakesh Madiwala (27) and Remanth Gowda (26).
A gang led by accused Kishore Poojary had murdered Charan Raj with swords and metal rods ain Perlampady, Kolthige village, Puttur on June 4 at 5.30 PM. A case under registration No. 49/2022 under section 302 and 34 IPC is registered at Bellare police station in this connection and is being investigated. The murder was committed reportedly due to an old enmity. Deceased Charan Raj and his accomplices had killed Kartik Marla near Sampya in the past. Charan Raj was on bail and was looking for a job in the medical shop to be opened at Perlampady when the accused ambushed and killed him.

Different teams were formed to nab the suspects in the leadership of police circle inspector Navin Chandra Jogi, PSI Rukma Naik, PSI Udaya Ravi and Puttur rural police under directions from Sullia SP Sonawane Hrishikesh Bhagawan, additional SP Kumar Chandra and assistant SP Gana P Kumar.
Out of the accused, Narmesh Rai (29), Nithin Shetty (23) and Vijesh (22) were arrested on June 5 and remanded to judicial custody.
Kishore Poojary and Rakesh Madiwala had gone on a motorcycle belonging to Remanth to Nintikall, Bellare, had left the bike there and gone to Subrahmanya by an autorickshaw after killing Charan Raj. They had hired a rented car later at Subrahmanya and gone to Hettur, Sakleshpur taluk via Bisile road. They wandered about and were arriving at Somvarpet in the rented car on June 6 when the team led by Sullia station PSI Dilip took the accused into custody.
