Mangaluru, Jun 6: Milagres School was founded by Bishop Bernadine of St Agnes, OCD Pro Vicar Apostolic (1848-1853) in the year 1848 and was entrusted to the care of John Edward Fitzerald, an Irishman and Monsieur Dupret, a Frenchman.
Considering the need of having an English Medium school for boys in the city, the then headmaster Fr Charles Aranha applied for permission to open English Medium parallel sections and was granted permission to open Grade 1 on 29.06.1965. Subsequently permission to open sections for Grades II to VI was granted (08.07.1965). In the following year permission was accorded to open Grade VII (20.09.1966). On 19.05.2017, the school became affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (affiliation code 830757). From the academic year 2017-18, the institution has been following the CBSE curriculum. The school functions under the Catholic Board of Education, under the local management of Milagres Church.
The year 2022, was a turning point for this institution as the CBSE, New Delhi, approved to name the school Milagres Central School.
Academic Results
In the year 2019-20, the first batch of 31 students appeared for grade X examination conducted by CBSE board. All 31 students passed with 100 percent results.

In the Academic year 2020-21, a total of 37 students appeared for the examinations and secured 100 percent results for the second consecutive year.

Milagres Central School caters to educate students from Montessori to Grade X. From the academic session 2022-23, Milagres Central School has launched a child care facility as an aid to the working parents. In addition to the existing activities, the school intends to incorporate extra-curricular activities like music, karate, etc.
