Udupi, Jun 5: “Siddaramaiah does not have any knowledge about RSS. It has been a long time since RSS gave up the Chaddi (shorts) culture and took up pants. Siddaramaiah speaks like this for political reasons. There is a good atmosphere in the country because of Chaddi. It would not have been possible to see the condition of the country in the absence of RSS. I do not know what harm RSS has done to Siddaramaiah,” said Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat.
“RSS prepares patriotic people. It teaches patriotism and good education. The world knows what RSS is. Mohan Bhagawath has asked people not to look for Shivalinga in all the mosques. It means that we should set right whatever that is present. We feel hurt sentimentally when we find some signs. We will look for the original base and renovate it,” said Bhat.
“Bhagawath has said in his speech that there should be harmony. People are campaigning on the basis of calls by RSS. There should be a campaign when we find signs,” he said.
Speaking after a felicitation programme to student achievers in the college which faced Hijab controversy, Bhat said that the college received popularity and notoriety after discussions over Hijab. “The students have made great achievements even amid the pressure,” he said.
“It is proven that there was tension in the college and outside while writing the examination. Admissions have increased in the college this year. New computer science division is opened. We have opened a computer science department in commerce also. The number of Muslim students also has gone up. It is proven that there is communal harmony in Udupi.”
“Islam community members have applied to open four new colleges. We do not object if they wear Hijab in them. It is better to make different arrangements instead of spoiling the health of the society,” he said.
He felicitated the special achievers in the pre-university college and high school and lauded the school development council.
Regarding the Hijab controversy in Uppinangady, he said that the people have taken up law in their hands. “The orders of the court are clear. Those who press against it are criminals. Those who attack the media are fanatics. The society should give a befitting reply to them,” he said.
“Hijab is an international conspiracy. Police should register a suo moto case against them. Slap cases against the parents of the children who come wearing Hijab,” he urged.
