Panaji, Mar 5 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde said Friday Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not aware of the goings on in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Addressing a meeting of BJP officer bearers here, Munde said that Manmohan Singh was a mute spectator to corruption especially in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, which he alleged, had its roots in the PMO.
"So what if the prime minister claims is clean? He does not know what is happening...in the PMO," Munde said in his speech in Marathi.
"(Then communications minister A.) Raja alone was not responsible. He had taken permission from the PMO," Munde said, adding that the Rs 1.76 lakh crore scam was big enough to erase Mararashtra's entire debt and fund Goa's annual budget of Rs.6,000 crore forever.
Munde also said that the decision to cancel the allotment of scarce, high-value S-band in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) spectrum scam after the scam was exposed, did not mean there was no corruption involved.
