Udupi, June 2: The Udupi police on Thursday, June 2, successfully and swiftly foiled a suicide bid made by a youth.
The youth has been identified as Rohan Rajesh Jithanna who attempted to end his life in a hotel lodge by slitting his wrist.
Rohan Rajesh Jithanna was said to be in a state of depression due to family problems. After cutting his wrist with a knife Rohan called his friend Aditya in Mangaluru who in turn alerted the Mangaluru police control room immediately.
Udupi police which got an alert from the Mangaluru control room acted swiftly by informing the Udupi police. Under the guidance of inspector Pramod Kumar the police reached the lodge quickly and rescued Rohan who was lying in a semi-conscious state.
The police then rushed Rohan to a hospital for suitable treatment and rescued Rohan's life.
The presence of mind and timely action taken by the Udupi police came in for appreciation from all quarters.
