ABU DHABI, Mar 4(The National): In an effort to "clear the atmosphere" between the UAE and Oman, the emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al Ahmed Al Sabah, held talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the sultan of Oman, the state news agency Wam reported.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was also at the meeting at the sultan's palace in Muscat yesterday evening.
The royals discussed the ongoing protests in Oman. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid described the recent events as "unacceptable".
According to Wam, he told Sultan Qaboos that the UAE fully supported the sultanate in maintaining and preserving the country's "security and stability".
He said the UAE was confident that the people of Oman could overcome "any difficulties that Oman might face", and that the UAE would "spare no efforts to provide all kinds of support".
On Sunday the sultan promised the creation of 50,000 jobs, unemployment benefits and a study into widening the power of the elected Shura Council.
