Udupi, Jun 1: “The union government has completed eight years under our beloved leader. We have to introspect during the Azadi Ka Amrith Mahotsav. It is very important to make resolution for the next 25 years,” said chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai.
He was speaking at a press conference in the city on Wednesday June 1. He further said, “Discussion on the developments that have taken place during the regime of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has to happen. Modi is necessary for the safety of India’s future and progress. Only those who have achieved can give a report card.
“Three things are important in a country. During Covid, the country was declared as Atmanirbhar. Stress is given to ‘Make in India’. We will give the report on what profit the country has got from eight years of rule under PM Modi. When Modi was the CM of Gujarat, he used to give a report card. He worked with the intention of achieving self-reliance in every sector.
“Many schemes of Gareeb Kalyan are announced for the security of food, health and employment. People should be partners in development and not beneficiaries. Sab ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikaas, Vishwas is our motto. Earlier prime ministers were scared to talk about certain subjects.
“We have taken a bold decision to provide drinking water to every household in Karnataka. The Jaljeevan scheme will provide pure drinking water to 25 lac households in the state. A scheme is unveiled to provide LPG to people of rural areas. We will take effective action to provide electricity to all houses. Grant is released for building toilets and handling of waster under Swachh Bharat Mission. Krishi Samman scheme is introduced to strengthen the agricultural production. Every farmer is getting Rs 10,000 support price. Mudra scheme in production sector has benefitted thousands of people in villages.
“Start-up scheme has begun in IT, BT sectors. PM Modi is continuously striving to build a new India. Beneficiaries are getting benefits through direct benefit transfer schemes. Students are having ample opportunities due to the new education policy. New Education Policy is the answer to challenges of the 21st century.
“PM Modi has stressed on the use of alternative fuel. Special priority is given to use of Ethanol in Karnataka. Research is on for use of Hydrogen as fuel. Research of producing ammonium from sea water is in progress. Karnataka is the first state to sign the production of semiconductors. Modi has given new direction to the progress of India.
“PM Modi is a politician with two angles. He does people politics. Modi is a veteran politician who will build the next generation. Modi will get people’s verdict in 2024. We will build new India from new Karnataka under the guidance of Modi,” he said.
When questioned about text book revision controversy, Bommai said, “I have asked a comprehensive report from the education minister. Swamjis have written letters to me. I have spoken to them. There are discussion of two entirely different groups. Discussions for and against the revision is on. The Education minister will give the report tomorrow. Then we will take a decision. Litterateurs and seers have written letters. We will speak to people who have asked for the withdrawal of the revision.”
