Udupi, May 26: As part of Brahmakalashotsava of the renovated Sri Mahishamardini temple, Kadiyali, a special umbrella made for promotion of the Brahmakalasha was launched by known social workers of Udupi on Thursday, May 26 at the Kalsanka junction here.
Social workers Dr P V Bhandary, renowned psychiatrist Dr Ravi Katapady, Vishu Kumar Shetty Ambalpady, Neetha Prabhu Kaup, Nityananda Olakadu, Prithvi Pai and Ishwar Malpe together launched the special umbrella.
Addressing the gathering, Dr P V Bhandary said, “temple is always intimate to get relief from all pains. The Kadiyali temple management committee has served a lot of needy people during lockdown by providing food kits. Let us continue to do social service in a meaningful way. There are poor people in society, who really need support. We should listen to their grievances first and try to solve their problems. Let us extend our helping hand for people to overcome difficulties.”
Raghavendra Kini said, 'Kadiyali is known for many historical milestones. The core purpose of this programme is to bring changes in society.”
A procession was organised from Kalsanka junction and it ended in the temple premises.
Students from Scouts and Guides, members of Mahila association and devotees participated in the procession march by holding umbrellas.
Brahmakalashotsava will be held from June 1 to 10. Umbrellas will be distributed to the poor after the event is over. As many as 1080 umbrellas are being used for promotion.
Matte Raviraj Acharya, president, Kadiyali temple management committee, Nagesh Hegde, president, the temple renovation committee, Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Purushottam P Shetty, businessman, president, Brahmakalashotsava committee, Kunjittaya Srinivas Upadhyaya, Raghavendra Kini, general secretary, temple renovation committee, City Municipality councillors, renovation committee office bearers, and devotees participated in the procession.
