Bantwal, May 20: Students held protests under the leadership of ABVP on Friday, May 20 boycotting classes and urging for the resignation of the convener of prestigious SVS College in the taluk.
A case under atrocities against women was registered against college management committee convener Prakash Shenoy and he was arrested and released on bail recently. The students have complained that Prakash Shenoy has been harassing after his release on bail the pupil who questioned the irregularities in the school under the protection of the principal.
The protesting students urged for the resignation of Prakash Shenoy and the dismissal of two other professors against whom FIR has been registered.
Tahsildar visits the spot – Protests stop for now
Bantwal tahsildar Dr Smita Ram visited the college after hearing the news of the protests. She held discussions with the students and listened to their demands. It is said that the protests were temporarily withdrawn after that. ABVP Bantwal taluk convener Shivaprasad Shetty, state executive member Sreyas, Mangaluru district convener Nishan Alva, town secretary Pratik, Dinesh Koila, college student leader Ranjith Rai and others were present.
